About Amok

Amok is the title of a number of bands and projects.

#1 Amok (Norway)
AMOK spawned in 2000 as a death/grind/thrash metal unit.
The aim was from the beginning to bring back the doomsday holocaust from the 80s.
Musical inspiration was bands like Autopsy, Beherit, VON, Masters Hammer, Sadistik Exekution, Carcass, Blasphemy and old Scandinavian death metal.

At first AMOK consisted of Goatpromoter Lava (guitars/vocals) and Stanley (bass/drums).
After some months of rehearsing Mord joined and took over the drums. This made live performances possible.
AMOK released 2 demos (Sadistic Attack [2001] and LAVA Dictatorship [2002]) and performed 3 concerts before the line-up changed.
Both Stanley and Mord left in 2003.

Goatpromoter Lava then joined forces with Necrocum (vocals) and Iscariah (bass).
AMOK released a new promo, Effective Mass-Torture [2003], where the title track presents the new line-up.
The drums were programmed for this track.

Witchhammer Production re-released "Lava Dictatorship" in 2003, as a split cassette with Audiopain.
Perverted Taste re-released "Sadistic Attack" in 2004, as a split 10" EP with Taake.
In early 2006 Holycaust Records released A Norwegian Hail To VON as a gatefold 2x7 EP.
On this release AMOK, Taake, Norwegian Evil and Urgehal pays homage to VON.

AMOK started writing/recording material for their debut album as early as in the beginning of 2004.
After trying out the material with programmed drums the search for a drummer started. Stanley rejoined AMOK for this duty.
The salvation through fundamentalistic religious fanatism is finally here in Necrospiritual Deathcore.
Planet Satan Revolution will release "Necrospiritual Deathcore" in September 2006.

The brainchild of Calum Henderson and Greg Corlett, the origins of Amok start in the summer of 2004. Irratated by the current metal scence, the pair decided to take it upon themselves to mix things up and try to write the fastest and most relentless songs they could. The wheels of metal were now in motion as they worked day and night on riffage and laying down some quick home recordings. Their efforts proved fruitful and from these sessions some serious thrash was created. It was now clear to them that they had hit a nerve -it was time to take this music live! Now all that was needed was a full lineup! First to be drafted in was Keith 'helli' Henderson on bass guitar, surprisingly enough, Calums brother. Soon after Keiths appointment, Amok had found their drummer in the form of Jamie Bremaneson. The jigsaw was finally complete with the addition of Stephen 'Macho' Matulevicius to lead the bands vocal assualt. With a solid lineup in place, the band took to the studio to work on previously worked songs and new material alike. They soon developed their own sound, however still maintined traces of their major influences of the Bay area thrash bands such as Exodus, Testament, and Heathen. Driven by catchy riffage with a fair dose of fast and furious shredding, amok are a full on thrash attack!! Within a few months, work soon began on the bands first Demo entitled 'Three Pints of Metal' containing songs from the initial band practices. Aside form playing live to promote their first ep release, the band were continually writing fresh new material. Today, now with a back log of around 30 potential songs, Amok are currently in the process of fine tuning the best 10 to unleash their first full length release.......until then, Shred and Slay!!

#3 Amok (Switzerland)
Amok was formed in May 2001 in Geneva by members of several bands of the local death metal scene. The style is not easy to describe, but it's brutal for sure! Individual influences are very varied, thus giving a rich music. The evolution of the band can be felt throughout the songs which are all written with a different approach. Every song has also a varied theme, the emotions of the moment are controlling our inspirations.

The band has already made a five tracks mini-album called NECROSAPIENS, recorded in August 2002, and also the HEPHAISTOS demo that was recorded during august and september 2004 by Jéjé Lapin from Nostromo. Finally, the LULLABIES OF SILENCE album recorded at the end of 2005.
