Described by the BBC as a 'spookily young Brighton trio with killer melodies and an Arctic Monkeys rasp’ prepare to welcome to your record collection: THE RPMs.

Having only been together a few years, The RPMs have made short work of grabbing people's attention. Making waves on Huw Stephen’s BBC Introducing and John Kennedy’s Shock of the New on Radio X, tipped by 6 Music taste-makers Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, taking up invitations to Glastonbury Festival two years in a row, plus scoring ‘track of the day’ features in the likes of Clash, Giglutz, Record Of The Day and more - make no mistake this band are on a roll.

With their foundations formed in Dorset by childhood friends Jack Valero (lead vocals, guitar) Callum James (drums and backing vocals), joined by Miguel Cosme on bass and backing vocals, they emerged from their early jamming sessions with lyrics boasting the tongue-in-cheek Turner-isms of the Arctic Monkeys, a sound laced with the melodic licks of The La's, choruses pumped with the power pop panache of The Flamin’ Groovies, and ambitions to mix it up with their own contemporary influences, the band were on to a formula that was both classic and enduring in feel, but undeniably fresh.

Followed by a rip-roaring set at Glastonbury Festival’s Pilton Party in September to a packed tent it was the perfect launch-pad for their debut single. Cherry picking tried-and-tested live favourite “I Don’t Like It” to take on the airwaves, the track was picked up immediately by BBC Intro South. Earning high profile plaudits on radio from the likes of venerated indie gurus Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq on 6 Music, Huw Stephens on Radio 1 BBC Introducing, a coveted slot on John Kennedy’s Shock of the New show on Radio X, plus a heap of praise from the online community, the track hailed by Clash magazine as “a brattish salute to refusal, to the gentle art of making up your own damn mind”, in turn soon had people making up their minds that this track was indeed something special.

With Digital Disobedience their debut EP released in June 2016, the trio were out to make a statement from the get-go. Channelling the rough and ready confidence of youth across four tracks of timeless feel, fan favourite 'I Don't Like It’, butts up against the head-over-heels pop perfection of 'I Think It's Stupid, But I Think It’s Love' (which has already been featured as Track of the Day on BBC Introducing South), the rollicking alt-rock riffage of ‘Abercrombie And Fitch’ and the cruising pedal-to-the-metal anthemia of “Down That Road’.

Knowing just how to celebrate the release of their debut EP in style, that same week The RPMs filed their RSVP to Glastonbury 2016 to headline the BBC Introducing Stage and swiftly followed it with a lap of honour in the shape of a hometown headline show at the Hope & Ruin in Brighton (arranged by much-celebrated taste maker indie club night This Feeling).

With festival appearances at the likes of 2000 trees and Beautiful Days and some heavy grass roots gigging, the band have been busy honing their craft and readying themselves for the next exciting chapter in their career and continuing to win over new fans in the most unlikely places including the likes of the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer from the equally legendary KROQ FM proclaiming "they're my new favourite band!" to his listeners.

With all the cogs in action and rotating them ever closer toward the release of their follow up EP in 2017, keep your eyes and ears peeled as the band road test new material at a venue near you ….
