About Black Cab
Australian band Black Cab is Andrew Coates and James Lee with drummer Wes Holland. Formed in 2004, Black Cab’s sound has ranged from psychedelic krautrock to driving electronica, often drawing inspiration from Europe and American culture of the ’70’s and ’80’s.
Black Cab’s debut album, Altamont Diary, a dark take on the Stones’ free concert at Altamont was released in 2004 to critical acclaim worldwide. The band has since released albums Jesus East (2006), Call Signs (2009), Games of the XXI Olympiad (2014) and the alt-soundtrack LP Akira (2017). Call Signs was shortlisted for the 2009 Australia Music Prize, and the bands’ music featured in the recent Ubisoft’s 2021 global game release Riders Republic. Their latest album, Rotsler’s Rules, was released in May 2022.
