About Mike Miller

There are at least two artists with the name Mike Miller: an American guitarist and an Irish DJ.

Mike Miller, the guitarist:
Mike Miller was born in 1953 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1972 he moved to Colorado and played with guitarists Robben Ford, Bill Frisell, and Larry Coryell. Miller also played with the Fowler Brothers and recorded the album FLY ON as the group Air Pocket. In 1975, he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked with Shawn Phillips, Bennie Maupin, Tom Scott, Alphonso Johnson, Brand X, and others. Miller began eleven years of touring and recording with progressive pop artist Gino Vannelli in 1981. In 1986 he started the band The Outsidemen, releasing a CD titled "Band Overboard."

Miller joined Chick Corea and the Elektric Band II in 1993 for the album Paint the World and the following world tour. He performed the music of Frank Zappa as a member of Banned from Utopia (with the Seattle Symphony, the Portland Symphony and the Israeli Philharmonic), and continued to work in an orchestral setting, recording Joseph Curiale's guitar concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and performing as a soloist in the U.S. debut of Marc Anthony Turnage's Blood on the Floor with the L.A. Philharmonic New Music Group.

Miller performed with Bette Midler in the "Divine Miss Millennium" world tour, as well as recording "Bette" with producer Don Was. Miller plays on "No Hyenas" by Steve Fowler and Ed Fowler, as well as a forthcoming Banned from Utopia recording.

Mike Miller, the DJ:
Hailing from Ireland but residing now in Liverpool, Mike Miller has gained himself a reputation over the last number of years as being a DJ & producer to watch out for. Mikes passion for dance music was conceived in the early 90s, in an era when a new and addictive sound was just starting to emerge across the world. Initially falling for the tail end of acid house, he then discovered the new & futuristic sounds of early jungle & hardcore, and over the following years he naturally progressed into all forms of house music. Sharing his first set of decks with a friend, he began to hone his craft, playing at parties and events around his home town of Dublin and then progressed on to club nights as his skills began to get noticed. With now over 15 years of experience behind the turntables, his tight control on the decks coupled with his passion for all forms of dance music and his ear for a dance floor worthy groove has lead him on to great things.

Mikes DJing has brought him the length and breadth of the UK and regularly further a field through Europe & beyond, including regular sets in Turkey, China, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Slovakia, USA and Poland. Over the years he has played alongside such luminaries as Jody Wisternoff, James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Desyn Masiello, Luke Fair, Anthony Pappa, Matthew Dekay, Steve Gerrard, John Graham, Jonathan Lisle, Kazell, Guy Gerber, Jondi & Spesh and Sandra Collins.

In 2002 Mike left Ireland to further his career in music and moved to Liverpool to work at 3Beat Label Mgnt Ltd. As label manager for over 30 of the worlds finest underground house labels, here Mike was in charge of promotion & marketing, A&R, licensing, manufacturing & distribution and he developed both the 3BLM brand and that of globally respected and influential imprints such as Border Community [James Holden], Vapour Recordings [Kasey Taylor], Trojan [Luke Chable], Music for Vinyl [Infusion], DK Records [Matthew Dekay], Mashtronic Records, EMP [Evolution] and many more.

2003 & 2004 saw the conception of two of his own imprints 3Beatbreaks and Maris Music. Both labels acted as a perfect outlet for some of his own tracks and remixes and they helped to develop one of his own production moniker DISLODGED [with friend and housemate Adam Helliwell - 3Beats tech house and breaks buyer]. Since their launch, Maris & 3Beatbreaks have released fantastic tracks from artists such as Chakra, Kasey Taylor, Parham & Dominic Plaza, Rouzbeh Delavari, Skooma, Derek Howell, Seyton, Underground Movement, Momu, Wrecked Angle, Özgür Can, Chris Lake and young Adam "Starkid" Spears RIP.

Following his departure from 3BLM at the start of 2006, Mike joined acclaimed management company AnD Press and its sister companies 24 Management and Club Class Music Management. Here as head of labels & licensing he coordinates manufacturing & licensing for the imprints of Chris Lake, Paolo Mojo, Max Graham, Paul Woolford, Noir, Sébastien Léger, Shlomi Aber, Nic Fanciulli, James Talk and many more
