About Crying Vessel

Its 3am on a cold dark night in October 2016. The forests of central Europe are as black as the night itself, but tonight is the culmination of years of experimentation to get to this point: shooting the music video for the Crying Vessel Killing Time EP. “We did it as an art concept,” Bandleader Slade Templeton reveals, “But it suddenly caught on and had nearly 30,000 views on YouTube the first month.” Crying Vessel is the solo project from Slade Templeton, who supported with live drummer Basil Oberli, are making waves in the post punk scene. Coming from Trip Hop roots on the past 3 albums, Crying Vessel has always hinted at Templeton’s love for the 80s and the Post Punk-era sounds of his youth. New album, ‘A Beautiful Curse’ embodies an unashamedly dark 80s vibe, while remaining contemporary and stunningly creative. Forged in a myriad of childhood influences including Jean Michel Jarre, Klaus Shulze, The Cure, Type O Negative and Gary Numan, it is a continuation of the hugely successful first EP, ‘Killing Time’ and due for international physical and digital release on October 13th 2017 from Manic Depression Records. Started as a side project in late 2010, Crying Vessel has far exceeded Slade’s expectations. And now, as he finishes his fourth album, his focus is squarely on delivering quality music for his ever-growing fan base with a fully integrated audio-visual tour experience. “It is something so very near and dear to me I was scared to ever put it to the public as much [for the first 3 albums]” Slade explains, “But now I see there is a need from a new fan base to hear more and I realize I need to focus on this project and keep moving. So this is where I will be putting my main efforts now.” You can expect Crying Vessel to grow in statue in the next few years as they’ve already secured scoring a movie due in 2018 and will be working on their fifth album amidst a full touring schedule well into 2019 for both Europe and USA.
