About Kara Golemba
It's difficult to assume the responsibility of representing what one knows. All too often songwriters remove themselves from a place of comfort in an attempt to fill the Creative Well instead of seeing their simple surroundings as the advantage. Kara Golemba's rural permanence, complete with motherly duties, sets the tone for being one of Saskatchewan's strongest burgeoning writers. Transplanted from the Okanagan to the farming community of Indian Head, Saskatchewan, Golemba carves diligent work hours as a self-managed and represented songstress. Her business savvy has solidified her appearances at provincial staples such as Telemiracle, Craven Country Jamboree, and The Gateway Music Festival. Her sincerity as an artist gave her a shoe-in victory at the 2016 Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase presented by 620 CKRM with her original composition, “Mason Jar of Memories” being awarded the Spirit of Saskatchewan Songwriting Award. “Mason Jar” appears alongside five other self-penned tracks on her forthcoming EP, produced by ex-Walton, Jason Plumb and recorded at Studio One in Regina, Saskatchewan. Golemba's sensibilities are those in the class of Lucinda Williams, Susan Tedeschi, and Brandi Carlile. She attacks hidden desires, imparts social wisdom, and laments unsettling experiences through her lyrical abilities while satisfying melodic cravings and selling raw emotion. With a release date set for September 23, 2016, Golemba's debut will assist in what is being seen as Saskatchewan's rising tide and will carry herself alongside writers that confidently hold ground on the fringe of country, devout to a message, and simply unlike any of her contemporaries.
