About The Scuzzballs
The Scuzzballs began around Halloween 2015 when Arfil Pajarillaga planned one of his first house shows to celebrate both local music and shitty costumes. Jimmy Wilkens, having just recently moved to an apartment building two blocks away, kept his drum kit in Arfil's basement where the two of them would jam occasionally. After deciding to play a quick 15 minute set at the Halloween show, the two began working on what would eventually become the song "Slump."
Recognizing the potential, Arfil recruited David Coughlin to join in on shared rhythm/lead guitar and vocal duties. The Scuzzballs were now a three piece. Although they probably weren't ready, the band played its first official show just a week before Christmas at Mahall's. After spending the next year auditioning bassist after bassist and having their friend Michael Torok sub in for half of their shows, The Scuzzballs finally landed on Jake Stephens, just in time for their first sold out show opening for Wavves in May 2017.
The Scuzzballs sound can be described as Garage Rock with hints of Surf, Post-Emo, and Pop-Punk. The band put out its self-titled EP in January of 2017 with plans to follow up with another release sometime this winter.
