About Lizzi Trumbore Music
DFW based singer-songwriter Lizzi Trumbore infuses catchy melodies, lush harmonies, introspective lyrics, and genre-bending grooves to create a unique spin on both the pop and jazz idioms.
Lizzi is a published songwriter and arranger who’s original compositions have been performed by collegiate and professional vocal groups throughout the country and at the JEN (The Jazz Education Network) and ACDA (American Choral Director’s Association) conferences. Her songs have been described as "world class," "sincere and intelligently crafted," and "full of beautiful surprises." She skillfully combines a vibrant and youthful perspective on songwriting while still capturing a mature depth and understanding of the art form.
Along with her songwriting pursuits, Lizzi is an emerging jazz vocalist and songwriter who is praised for her ethereal voice, genuine lyric delivery, and unique improvisation style.
As a graduate of the University of North Texas’ prestigious jazz program, Lizzi sang with the 3 o’clock Lab Band, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian percussion ensembles, and the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, The UNT Jazz Singers. She also played trombone in big bands and trombone choirs throughout her collegiate career. Originally a student of classical and jazz trombone and piano, Lizzi realized her passion for vocal jazz in high school and went on to win a Student Downbeat Award for outstanding high school vocal performance. At the age of 18 she was the youngest headliner of KSDS Jazz 88.3 fm’s long running "Jazz Live” show. In the summer of 2014 she performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival and various jazz festivals throughout Japan as the vocalist in the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra.
A product of the San Diego jazz scene and music programs, Lizzi performs with many esteemed local musicians including guitarist Peter Sprague and the inventive vocalist and improviser, Leonard Patton. Through her studies at UNT, she has worked and performed with vocalists Bobby McFerrin, Kurt Elling, Sara Gazarek, Jo Lawry (Sting), pianists Josh Nelson and Danilo Perez, and the acclaimed vocal groups the Swingle Singers and Groove for Thought. She has also worked with vocalist Tierney Sutton, bassist Jennifer Leitham, and the San Diego Symphony Summer Pops under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch.
