About Sister Ruth & The Swamp Grass Revival
Sister RUTH & The SWAMP GRASS REVIVAL is an Americana/Blues band with a blend of Blues, Roots, Soul and Southern Rock.
In 2014, Ruth Ann Conley found her way in the Nashville blues scene from Alabama performing as a lead vocalist in a popular house band at BB Kings.
Previously, she performed as background vocalist to many various artists in all genres of music.
After much encouragement from friends and fans, Ruth Ann decided it was time to form her own band.
"It's a big step unto center stage, many have tried and didn't succeed so I was wondering if I would be any different."
However, Ruth Ann did succeed and is now performing regularly at one of Nashville's most historical clubs downtown in famous Printer's Alley.
The idea for the name, "Sister Ruth & The Swamp Grass Revival" came from her musical upbringing. Ruth Ann's father was a minister and a musician from eastern Kentucky. She grew up touring and singing bluegrass gospel with her family.
Years Later, her musical journey led her to a small rural town in Alabama where she became heavily influenced by the R&B/Soul and Southern Rock sounds of Muscle Shoals.
Sister Ruth & The Swamp Grass Revival Rocks the blues!
How can it be anything other than great when you have an incredible combination of pro players with a musical pedigree nothing short of legendary!
SGR is affiliated with great names such as Issac Hays, Etta James, Muddy Waters, BB King, Sir Elton John, Billy Joel, John Fogerty, The "Swampers" and many more!
"I finally have my dream band" Ruth Ann says. "Although I've worked with some of the best in the past, THIS time everything came together like magic and I can't wait for folks to hear us and draw their own conclusion."
Along with her own soulful originals, Sister RUTH & SGR cover everything from Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Joe Bonamassa, Joan Osborne, to Jimmy Hendricks, Aretha, Etta, Big Mama Thornton, Bonnie Raitt, Bill Withers, John Prine, Stevie Winwood, Little Feat and the Allman Brothers.
Sister Ruth serves it on the table her way. She mixes it up with a flavor all her own.
"I love to hear a swampy delta slide and a slamm'n B3 jamming with a great sax. To me there's nothing better!!" Declares the fair skin female artist.
Sister Ruth's music will reach in the depth of your soul as the listener and take you right where you want to be. It's a spiritual experience!
Her fans and musical peers describe her as: "Petite and Powerful" "Dynamic" and "Rare"
"How does that big voice come out of that little body? "She's a pleasant surprise."
