Bang Pow

Years of experimentation, existing on the outskirts of "the scene", constantly going against the grain, fighting the popularity contests that seemed to follow... So we turned out the lights. The greatest realization was from looking away from the stage, turning the lights back on and focusing everything on the fans. Everything we would do and everything we would become would be a result of 1 thing, the pursuit of whipping the crowd into a dancing, sweaty mess of smiles and release. How would we do that? How would we break through the barrier of the folded arm and nodding head hipster scene? How would we appeal to Jam band hippy kids and hip hop aficionados at the same time? How would one song "turn on" surfer bros, burners and house heads under the same beat? By taking the universal tempo of 120bpm and creating a live set that emulates a DJ performance, pulling in all of the aforementioned influences and combining them into a non stop experience. The band stays in the shadows and illuminates the crowd with a substantial light show that turns any bar into a venue and syncs perfectly with any large auditorium or festival stage.Wether supplying Led foam glow sticks, percussion instruments or free swag to the audience, the point is always clear that this band is about the fans and the vibe that can only be created by a room full of people all dancing like it's their last night on earth. Bang Pow is an Indie dance band from San Diego, California taking influence from early post punk bands like Joy division and New Order and in the vein of the legendary LCD Soundsystem and indie dance rockers !!! (Chk chk chk). The band was the winner of the 2016 KAABOO discovery tour earning them a spot in the festivals lineup that year playing along side bands like Cold War Kids, Lenny Kravitz and Jack Johnson. They were also selected to play Oysterfest which had them supporting Thievery Corporation on the main stage and Boombox and Rob Garza for the late night after party. These shows, along with other festival and club performances made for a great 2016 for Bang Pow. 2017 looks even better.... The band is putting the final touches on their second full length album and is producing a companion CD complete with B sides, rarities and remixes. This, along with an expanded touring schedule will bring Bang Pow to new areas, on new stages and in front of new faces to turn into life long fans.... We will see you on the other side. Bang Pow
