About Jared "Pete" Gile

Averaging nearly 100 shows per year, Jared “Pete” Gile will thrill you with his original songs, witty humor, and entertaining storytelling. He has shared the stage with brand-name acts and songwriters including Luke Bryan, Jerrod Niemann, Robert Earl Keen, Trent Wilmon, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney LaRue, Confederate Railroad, Billy Joe Shaver, Darrel Scott, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Max Stalling, Kevin Fowler, and many more. After entering the music scene during his college years in Manhattan, KS, Jared “Pete” Gile has performed original songs at venues, festivals, and smoky bars for more than ten years. Gile’s career has taken him all the way from the famed town of Luckenbach, TX to the Upper Midwest and allowed him to perform with some of the best up-and-coming musical acts, many in the Red Dirt Country music scene. “Pete” not only plays guitar, but also is a multi-talented artist who incorporates many instruments including electronic foot drums and harmonica. He is also a talented storyteller and adds all of these things into his crowd-tailored shows. Minus a brief stint of fronting his own band in 2004, Jared “Pete” Gile’s career has primarily been as a solo performer. Gile currently resides in North Central Kansas, which is an unconventional choice in the business. However, Jared “Pete” Gile is proud to say that he is “rural by choice” because his surroundings in the middle of the Midwest fuel his creativity in the songwriting process and his close relationship with rural characters of all types lends itself to endless songwriting topics. Jared “Pete” Gile has released three CD’s including a four-song EP entitled Middle of the Midwest (2009), More of Me (2007), and Modern Day Mountain Man (2003). His most recent effort, Middle of the Midwest is a four-song project was recorded in Austin, TX in August of 2009 with Rich Brotherton acting as producer. Brotherton, most well known for his role as lead guitarist for the Robert Earl Keen Band, shines throughout the project not only as producer/engineer but also as a multi-instrumentalist. The project also charts Gile’s continual growth as a songwriter, following his previous two full length studio releases. The solid foundation of the new CD is laid down by the title track of the project called Middle of the Midwest. The song tells of a man trying to make a living and raise a family in rural America, without the advantages and benefits offered by living in a big city, but also minus the darker parts of living in a metropolis, such as higher rates of crime and gangs. The remaining 3 songs on the new release deal with a couple of familiar themes in country music such as drinking (Local Drunk), heartache and struggles (Getting Hit by a Train) all the way to the more edgy tune about maturing from a good-timing college kid to an adult with genuine responsibilities in the song “In Between College and Kids”. Most recently Gile finally found his niche outside of music by starting a business and website with his father called www.fencepostfurniture.com. In between performances, alongside his autograph-laden and well-worn guitar, Gile now fills his days with building rustic furniture by hand while thinking over lyrics for his next song.
