About The Hoy Polloy

The Hoy Polloy is an American multi-genre band formed in 2012 by lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist K Sos “The Toad” and lead guitarist Nick “The Stallion” Romanelli in Miami, Florida.

The active members currently include, lead vocalist K Sos “The Toad”, keyboardist/bassist Frankie P “The Ferret" and drummer Dave "The Cheetah" Nordstrom. They are best known for utilizing unique music videos, energy-driven live performances, and their singles "No Pressure", “Hats Off”, “Some Time”, and “Houdini”.

The name, inspired by “hoi polloi” which in Greek translates to, “the masses”, reflected the band that was not bound by a single genre. The two original band members, along with studio musicians created their first album. The debut was titled, "On The Way To Rome", and touched on everything from blues, psychedelic rock, soulful ballads and hip hop.

Eager to bring The Hoy Polloy to the stage, K Sos and Nick enlisted drummer Jonathan “The Panther” Cordts and keyboardist Frankie P “The Ferret” to join the band. They began practicing as a quad and playing local venues such as Jazid and Churchill’s. Shortly after, Nick decided to leave the band to launch Romanelli Recordings, leaving them in search of a new band member. A fateful online post brought them their new lead guitarist Juan “The Parrot” Lameiro. They took time to extensively practice and gel before reintroducing themselves to the public.

Following their debut album, the new band began releasing their systematic series of EPs, year after year, individually highlighting each animals' influence.

With the conclusion of the "Parrot Airways" Tour in the summer of 2016, The Hoy Polloy once again dealt with member turnover and bid farewell to founding drummer Jonathan “Panther” Cordts and soon after Juan “Parrot” Lameiro. Embracing that from great change comes limitless growth, K Sos “The Toad” and Frankie P “The Ferret” poured their hearts into brand new songs.

As the saying goes, “Where hard work meets opportunity lies luck”. And through chance they met guitarist Adam “The Raven” Rodriguez and drummer Alex “The Iguana” Blue. The band reignited their flame with a new fervor and jumped into a 30-city, North American tour. The new band members would be a crucial element in completing the newest album to come, "Bye Bye Bogota".

Post 2017 came the trial of the century as the guitarist and drummer decided to opt out in lieu of the current push towards our hip-hop collection. Never forgetting the principles upon which this band was conceptualized, they dug up a new layer to add to the performance highlighting the catchy word play of K Sos. Recenty opening up for GZA of Wu-Tang and Project Pat of 36Mafia has left these boys hungry once again to take on the road their arsenal of hits. An upcoming tour with neighbor floridian, Ace Hood, leaves a window for wonderment.

The Hoy Polloy is shaking up the musical world by pushing new artistic boundaries, redefining musical genres, and sparking trends that inspire the masses.
