About Jay D Clark

Philly artist JAY D CLARK plays soulful Reggae Jam Rock, original conscious party vibes with popular covers mixed in when necessary. I play with a sizable, select pool of extremely talented musicians and bands, allowing my backup band to flavor each song uniquely, within it's structure. No shows are alike.

I've been touring the east coast for 4+ years and have played hundreds of shows in great venues from Cali to Florida and Vermont. I'm now touring a lot more with my own backing band, while I used to travel solo and play with different backing bands all over. That three year formula is something I still do on a more limited basis.

I've been backed by bands like TreeHouse, Three Legged Fox, Sun-Dried Vibes, Of Good Nature, Queen City Dub, Bong Hits For Jesus, Cheezy and the Crackers, Lucky Dub, Coastal Vibrations, Burning Tree, Resinated, Dalton Dash, Trigger City Trio, Yamadeo, Sidereal, Domino Effect, Dalton Dash, Schema and more.

I've shared show bills with bands like Dirty Heads, Rebelution, Collie Buddz, Matisyahu, SOJA, The Wailers, Ballyhoo, The Movement, Supervillains, B Foundation, Echo Movement, Twiddle, Turbine and more. I've played with musicians who've worked with the likes of Slightly Stoopid, John Brown's Body, The Movement, Mike Pinto, Maxi Priest, Sly & Robbie, Whitney Houston, Lenny Kravitz, Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Ween, Bernie Worrell, Medeski, Martin & Wood and more.

JDC has worked on many projects, as a writer, producer, musician, singer, director, actor, crew member and artist. I've honed my vast and varied skills while working on movies, television series and shows, photo shoots & commercials, between periods of intense screenwriting & songwriting.I finished my first record Fall of the City in 2008, co-produced with Chuck Treece (McRad, Bad Brains, Pearl Jam, G Love, The Roots, Slightly Stoopid, Dre Dre, Billy Joel, The Movement, Mike Pinto...)... We first worked together on the historical science-fiction movie project Order of the Quest. The soundtrack was created by Treece & rap legend Schoolly D.

My second record, Intelligent Design, was produced in three sessions between 2011-12. The first live session in August 2011 included Mark Carson (Three Legged Fox) on bass, John L Langsford III (McRad, Witchfoot) on drums, Xande Cruiz (Batukas) on percussion, Adam Marshall (Sensamotion) on keys and sound engineer and session co-producer Ray Pirre (The Raggamuffins) on guitar for three tracks. The second session in April 2012 included Ray Pirre (Raggamuffins) on guitar, Jason Fraticelli (Matisyahu) on bass, Jay Davidson (Swift Technique, Maxi Preist, Sly & Robbie) on keys and session co-producer Tony Catastrophe on drums for three tracks. The third session was done over several days with guitarist, vocalist, bass, and keys player Chuck Treece and drummer Tony Catastrophe co-producing three tracks.
