The Asking

The Asking is an ambient folk vocal duo made up of the husband and wife team Greg and Kate House. The pair met while leading worship at youth camp and have been leading worship together ever since. Their passion for using music to point others to Christ led them to start writing music as The Asking in 2014. “We have always wanted to do music together. After 8 years of marriage Kate decided it was time to put those desires into action. This really is our dream coming true, it just took a little push to make it happen” says Greg House who provides the male vocals and acoustic guitar. !
The Asking’s unique sound comes from its simplicity. With only acoustic guitar and two vocals, the emphasis falls on their special blend which produces haunting harmonies and a clear message. “We are absolutely a Christian group. Message number one is that Jesus is The Savior” says Greg. The duo looks for ways to communicate their love of music, their faith, and their honest struggle to sort the latter out with the former. “God has given us a passion and calling to write about what He is teaching us. Our hope is that people will hear that and be able
to identify with those lessons” reflects Kate who writes the lyrics and provides the female vocals.

They released their debut EP in 2015. In March 2017 they ran a successful Kickstarter to fund their first full-length album. They are currently in the studio recording and will release the album in June 2017.
