About Thorazine

Thorazine was a punk band founded in Philly 1992. Thorazine was
the brain child of drummer Dallas Cantland and bass player/song writer
Ed Ormsby who enlisted the help of guitarist, Elliott Taylor. They
found Jo-Ann Rogan behind the bar of McGlinchy's bar in their quest
for a singer and history was made. During the first year John Quinn,
Scotty Parker, and Jim Kydonious all helped out on bass but when they
auditioned Ross Abraham they knew they had found the bass player for
them.

Thorazine cold sent demo tapes to every single label they could find
and Lee Josephs of Dionysus Records saw the genius in the young band
and added them to his roster. (https://www.facebook.com/dionysusrecords ) He released the now out of print 7 inch, Coffee, Tea, or Thorazine. They were driven, and a little stupid and naive, and they booked two tours off this 7 inch
record.

Around this time the makers of Thorazine decided to sue the band
our their use of the name Thorazine. The news spread like wild fire and before too long they were being called by morning radio DJ's coast to coast for interviews. The story appeared in Time, Newsweek, Playboy, and countless newspapers. The story lives on although this happened before the internet was common in homes.

Eventually they made it to Los Angeles and they recorded their first
album, Crazy Uncle Paul's Dead Squirrel Wedding and it was released in
1996. ( https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/crazy-uncle-pauls-dead-squirrel/id518747954). The next few years were a blur of road trips and shows.

In 1998 they again traveled to Los Angeles to record Vicious Cycle
with Lee Josephs and James Bennett. (https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/vicious-cycle/id608634216) While
in LA they recorded their one and only video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jw-okxvMBy0) Thorazine toured three more times after Vicious Cycle was released.

Thorazine were more than a band, they were a family. They lived together in a big old house in West Philly for almost a decade. As families do,the band parted ways and moved on with life although all the band members have remained in Philadelphia. Dallas is a Video Conference Coordinator and has worked hard on his drumming technique over the years. He plays with many bands and projects around town. Ross Abraham earned his Bachelor's Degree, works as a graphic designer, and has taken up photography.(http://www.flickr.com/photos/rosserx). Jo-Ann Rogan and Elliott Taylor are married and have two boys. Elliott Taylor has worked hard to become Director of Operations/ chief IT dude of a biotech company and Jo-Ann Rogan works in social media, bartends, and is the author of the blog Punky Mama. (http://www.punkymama.com)

In 2013 Heather Gillespie decided to make a documentary about the Dead Squirrel Wedding featured on Thorazine's first album. Her project
reunited the band for the first time in a decade. In February 2014 after making this Facebook page Dallas and Jo-Ann together enlisted Elliott and Ross to have a reunion show. They reunited onstage to a sold out room at The Fire in Philadephia on May 3rd. After that show Ross decided that he no longer wanted to play and gracefully bowed out.

Dallas, Jo-Ann, and Elliott knew exactly what they wanted in a bass player and found those qualities in Dan Hoover. Dan Hoover formerly played with
Mad Anthony Wayne & the Magnetic Jesus, The Highlifes, and The Smoking Hairy Burnouts. Together they have been jelling as a new version of Thorazine which is ready to take over the universe for a second time!!!!
