About Williams

It’s no secret that Skye born William Threlfall, aka Williams, has been luring people onto the dancefloor with his slick productions – many of which are signed to the highly respected, Berlin imprint, Get Physical – for some time, putting him firmly on everyone’s radar and making him Scotland’s hottest, underground techno export. In turning his technical dexterity to the studio – previously he was the keyboard player in the hugely successful, electro-pop act, Mylo – Williams is set to consolidate his talents and sound in 2008.

Racking up numerous remixes for super-cool electronic artist’s such as The Knife -(Tiga still holds his remix as his favourite of the year, ‘it saved me emotionally and re-inspired my love of music’), – Mark Romboy, Moby and Robyn – which incidentally made it to number one in the Cool Cuts chart – was something the Get Physical gang obviously spotted at an early stage. Picadilly Circuits / The Arrival was one of the best selling releases on the label and garnered support from Richie Hawtin and MANDY to name but a few, receiving rave reviews worldwide, ‘the overall sound resembles something that might come out of a Thomas Bangalter production’ (Traxsource.com). Watch out for his new track on Get Physical in early 2008.

Still not content, Williams also began his own underground label, Love Triangle, which he uses as a platform for his more alternative sounding productions and has struck gold with his last release, The Shivering. Someone once said, ‘In terms of originality and production, this shines in a sea of mediocrity'. His next single - Love On A Real Train, already causing a stir with DJ's like Ewan Pearson, hits the shops on Valentines day, and promises to bring some loving feeling back to dancefloors around the world.

Previously, DJing had to take a backseat as touring with Mylo took precedence and Willliams concentrated on his live skills, but as the relentless tour eventually came to an end, he’s happily been able to cement himself firmly on the DJ circuit.

Always conscious not to pigeonhole himself, Williams flits between deep techno, jackin’ Chicago house, and the odd party track or three thrown in. He’s honed his own style and sound and after years of misspent youth, stuck with his head in a bassbin at Glasgow’s Sub Club, knowing what the dance-floor needs is something he takes in his stride. Citing his hero’s as the likes of Derrick Carter and Green Velvet – a sound which isn’t to dissimilar to his own – Williams grew up DJing at house parties and even played host to Daft Punk at one memorable after party.

Having this year toured in Europe as part of the Get Physical 5 years anniversary tour and across the uk at events such as the primo alternative rave-up Bugged Out, Death Disco, Sankeys and Stealth, and being already highly fancied by the Music Press (Mixmag Artist of the Month, IDJ Bubblin' Under, DJ guest reviewer), Williams is definitely someone to keep an eye on both DJ wise and as a producer. Watch this boy, he’s going places.
