Safran

Safran is a German band roaming on the ridge between Experimental Folk and Jazz, a mixture of Portishead and the Beatles, John Cage and Lady Gaga. The four musicians use eight instruments to create a distinctive and extensive but always surprising sound. The multifarious voice of Klaus Schüller (v, g, sax) layers over the sometimes spheric, sometimes clear-cut foundation laid by Ben Briggmann (b), Friedrich Weber (p, vln, sampler) and Mats Niepmann (dr, sax). With a strictly adhered distance to the rest of the music scene, Safran create counter-intuitive and strangely familiar compositions and songs to appease your thirst for musical progression.
