About Desert Planes
In an indie-rock scene where stream counts are held in greater esteem than songwriting ability when it comes to music industry buzz, London’s Desert Planes may well be the exception to the rule that the UK has been waiting for.
Singer Tom Farrer and drummer Ben Niblett are old friends who in their adolescence, often collaborated and gigged in local pubs willing to over look their age. Following this formative step into their personal musical development and performing in other professional bands individually, it would only be a few years later that the two pick up where they left off.
The unique chemistry between the two both in terms of songwriting prowess and their prolific live performance was instantly realised when they launched a self-produced demo version of Wake In Fright into the online world in mid-2015, followed by several live shows in London that saw them instantly snapped up by Global Publishing (Ellie Goulding, Jungle, The Vaccines).
The band have since re-recorded Wake In Fright and several other songs, having recently worked out of the renowned Parr Street Studios with producer Richard Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, Clean Cut Kid), and have spent the last few months honing their live craft with shows around the UK, including supports with the likes of Spector and Kyko.
