Great show - she is a wonderful entertainer. But it seemed a bit short and rushed (maybe because it was the last show of the tour, or at least that is what she said). Doors opened at 6:30P, she did not hit the stage until 8:30P and was done by 10:15P, no encore. The Chicago Theater, however, is a horrible venue. Not enough rest rooms for the ladies. Under staffed concession stands causing long lines. Ushers allowing people to stand through entire songs, blocking other fans view. Based on all of the above - 3 stars for my hard earned money to get floor seats in the 6th row.

Jill Scott did better this time round at the Eventim Apollo than when I saw her perform here last time, at least there wasn't numerous sound checks. Although when she previously performed she had an opening act this time it was a DJ who could've played better songs and got the crowd pumped and jumping while we waited for Jill to come on stage at 9pm, instead the bars at the Eventim more than made their quota of sales. Also this time she missed the opportunity to sell her merchendise but at least that saved me money, while last time I bought her t-shirts. All in all it was a good night, the vibes was good and mellow, the dancers on stage was phenominal and breathtakingly awesome but their performances didn't quite correlate with the songs that Jill was singing but you can't have everything. Even so I'd say it was money well spent only because this time I could actually say that I heard Jill Scott sing and sound live just like I always imagined she would.

Just amazing! Such a voice. Such poetry. Such presence. Such a show. I love the album but to see it performed from beginning to end reminded me just how outstanding it is. I can’t think of a gig that I have enjoyed more.

About Jill Scott

Born Jill Heather Scott in an area called "North Philadelphia" in the City of Philadelphia, PA on April 4, 1972. She began her career as a performance poet. She was discovered by Amir "Questlove" Thompson of The Roots. Questlove invited her to join the band in the studios. The collaboration resulted in the song "You Got Me". She currently resides in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, a Philadelphia suburb.

Subsequently, she collaborated with Eric Benet, Will Smith, Lupe Fiasco, Common and broadened her performing experience by touring Canada in a production of the Broadway musical Rent. Signed to Steve McKeever's newly formed Hidden Beach Recordings label, she released her debut album Who Is Jill Scott: Words and Sounds Vol. 1 in July 2000. The following summer she released Experience:Jil Scott 826+ after she released the single "A Long Walk." Scott continued to gain more recognition, eventually earning a Grammy nomination in early 2003 for Best Female Vocal Performance for "A Long Walk", Jill Scott won a Grammy award at the 2005 Grammy awards for Best R&B Solo Vocal Performance, Male or Female.

Jill Scott appears in in David Chappelle's Block Party performing with The Roots and Erykah Badu.

Scott released a new album, entitled Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 in 2004. Her book of poetry, The Moments, The Minutes, The Hours was released in April 2005.

Recently, Scott was prominently featured on hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco's 2006 single "Daydreaming" which also appearred on a new Scott collection called Collaborations on January 30, 2007.[5][6]
The Collaborations collection served as "an appetizer" for her next studio album, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 released September 25, 2007.[7] A clip of the title track was released on a bonus disc from Hidden Beach Records and included with Collaborations. The lead single "Hate on Me", gained airplay in May 2007 with a video released in mid-July. In advance of the album's release, Hidden Beach released a 17-minute album sampler through their forums. Interspersed between the dozen songs previewed on the sampler was a personal explanation from Jill for the inspiration behind some of her songs.
