Beakr is the brainchild of Micah Smith. He's been composing electronic and indie rock music for 10 years. Originally from Boise, ID, he now lives and works in Chicago. Beakr has an electronic house sound mixed with an electro-funk vibe and a dash of hip-hop and rock. His first release was an ethereal and rhythmic 3-song EP called Home Movies (Jan 2009). He has worked on remixes for Spoon, Hot Chip, Aloe Blacc, Feist, The Temper Trap, Phoenix and Metric, infusing his own unique perspective and colorful energy into the music. His newest single, Smoking Gun, is an epic soul-banger that introduces the energy & textures of his brand new album Formulas. This album was released June 1st, 2011 and contains a diverse mix of tracks that weave through Beakr's favorite genres.
