About Joel Cage Music
Since the release of his debut CD Last Hard Road, Joel Cage has exhibited a consistency and dedication one could only attribute to "a true lifer." An extensive performance schedule, along with Joel's candid approach to audience communique, has yielded an ever-growing fan/friend constituency that spans the country.
Cage's unorthadox, aggressive, yet sensitive approach to his guitar styling, vocals and writing is the culmination of years spent performing with rock'n roll bands, including a three year stint with the internationally renown touring/recording group Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes. His singular talent has earned him the respect and friendship of fellow musicians from Boston to Nashville to L.A.
Joel's CDs: Last Hard Road, Nobody, “Live”- Windmills Are Coming, and Eponymous have been added to playlists at radio stations throughout the USA and abroad, including Germany, France, England, Israel,
Slovenia, Italy, Guam, Belgium, Finland, and Australia.
Joel's version of U2's Where The Streets Have No Name from the CD Nobody is frequently aired on the internationally syndicated Acoustic Cafe radio program as part of their Best Unsigned Artists series.
Critics continue to add their kudos to the mix. “With husky, heart- felt vocals and an aggressive acoustic guitar style reminiscent of Steve Stills, his performances offer more than the standard bill-of-fare of most folk singers, and more musicality and sensitivity than your average rock band. Somewhere in between, with a comprehensive knowledge of both, Joel Cage's performances are both powerfully energetic, and subtly moving,”
“He is evocative, mesmerizing, and totally musical, a showman with miles of experience behind him, and an honesty that is truly engaging"
And the resume continues to expand. Joel was named New Folk Winner at the Kerrville Folk Festival, has been featured twice at the infamous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and received thumbs-up reviews in the industry insider bible, Music Row Magazine.
Of Joel’s CD Nobody, Performing Songwriter Magazine said that
"...folks, this is how it's done."
