Based in New York City, Michelle Walker is a versatile singer blessed with a beautifully distinctive deep rich voice. Her arrangements of straight-ahead standards and contemporary pop tunes blend genres effortlessly with a fresh level of originality; bending the lines between swing, blues, bebop and soul. Her current CD releases Love Misery is a collection of her arrangements and originals chronicling a love affair thematically. Her shows as well as the CD tunes are intelligent, emotional and swinging!

Michelle Walker is one of the new crop of revered singers rising on both the New York and international jazz scene. Even as an indie artist, Michelle has firmly established herself as an international touring rising star, most notably having her quartet headline The JAVA Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia with Sting, Chris Botti, The Yellow Jackets, Monty Alexander, Kurt Elling, Patti Austin as well as a 17 City tour Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.

She is often compared to Cassandra Wilson, new comer Melody Gardot, Nina Simone and Betty Carter in style and tone but has develop her own unique sound.

Michelle studied classical voice at the University of Maryland and jazz vocal performance at the Amsterdam Music Conservatory in Holland and the Stanford Jazz in Palo Alto, CA.
