About Amira B

Amira B is a “New York City-based soulful R&B singer-songwriter, and head turner” (Jukely). Born in Cairo, Egypt, Amira’s mother quickly separated from her Egyptian father and fled Egypt to her home country, Russia, in hopes of keeping custody. In Russia, Amira began studying classical piano at 4 years old and had an aptitude for singing and performing in front of people. At 7, her mother remarried and they moved to New York City, where she continued to study classical piano, but decided to switch gears when she attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for voice. Influenced by R&B, jazz, soul, & the beat of the city, she began writing and performing her original songs for larger audiences by 14. Amira went on to later pursue a dual degree in Music Business and Songwriting at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music and is currently pursuing her Master’s for Music in Studio Composition at SUNY Purchase College’s Conservatory of Music.

Amira is a singer, songwriter, performer, producer, pianist, multi-instrumentalist, and music teacher. “Her sound blends soul, R&B, and funk, and her sultry vocals over the top take everything to a new level” (Breaking and Entering). After winning Songathon in May 2019, Amira released 8 back-to-back singles, over the course of a year, off of her ‘Do You’ EP. Co-written with renowned producer CARRTOONS, the title track “Do You” is in constant rotation at SOHO House (all locations), and many outlets like spas, offices, shops and malls. Her single “Day By Day” landed on Spotify Editorial Playlist “Fresh Finds: The Wave,” charted on Hype Machine and gained support from notable publications such as EARMILK, The Word is Bond, Hip Hop Magz, Lefuturewave, AXS, The Deli Magazine, & many more. Amira’s songwriting and recording performance on track “Tell Me” was featured on esteemed producer/drummer Rick Fed’s ‘Future Human’ LP, which won best Electronic album in Latvia in 2022. She’s been compared to artists Joss Stone, Leona Lewis, Amy Winehouse, Beverley Knight, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Lauryn Hill (Songwriting Magazine).

Since 2015, Amira has been gigging in the tri-state area with entertainment agencies like Esteem Entertainment, Hip Control, and Steppin’ Out, as well as her own personal band. Amira’s band has landed residencies at well-renowned NYC venues like Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and Pianos. She opened up for hip-hop artist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez in April 2018 and was invited to perform with acclaimed international touring act, The Main Squeeze, at their sold out Brooklyn Bowl show in November 2019.

Amira has played over 30 Sofar Sounds shows in NYC, LA, and Boston, as well as performance venues such as DROM (NYC), The Mercury Lounge (NYC), The Bowery Electric (NYC), Arlene’s Grocery (NYC), Merkin Concert Hall (NYC), Brooklyn Bowl (BK), C’mon Everybody (BK), The Footlight (BK), Molly Malone's (LA), Hotel Utah (SF), No Black Tie (KL), The Bee (KL), RIL’s (KL).
