About Soul Risin'

Soul Risin' is the Syracuse, NY, soulgrass jam band fronted by singer/songwriter Bryan Weinsztok. Thriving off of their live shows, the group brings together an array of musical influences to get any venue grooving. From southern rock to funk, blues, reggae and bluegrass jams, with a touch of genuine soul, they take it to new levels on stage with creative improv & jams leaving fans craving more.

Soul Risin' released their debut CD, When The Bridges Begin To Burn (2007), to rave reviews in Central New York. "Syracuse bandmates in Soul Risin' share a big sound, hard and crisp on their debut CD... it's a fine thing as Weinsztok's voice hits you aside the head, melodic and tough all in one." - Syracuse Post-Standard.

In May 2010, Soul Risin' released their follow-up album, The Opposite of Goodbye. (2010) to even more praise. For T.O.O.G., Soul Risin' worked with John Brown's Body long-time sound engineer and tour manager Jason "Jocko" Randall at his Syracuse studio, More Sound Recording Studio. "If you're ready to absorb some kick-ass music," says the Syracuse New Times, "Soul Risin’s new album soars across the cosmos of musical styles, jumping from funk to bluegrass before circling around the sun and floating in some pop and even a ballad." The Syracuse Post-Standard calls it "A smokin' hot, dozen-song gem!"

The Observer-Dispatch (Utica, NY) says of the band, "Soul Risin' creates an engaging blend of soul and rock that has the ability to put a sober man into a drunken stupor without a sip of alcohol. Gritty vocals, backed by furiously frenetic guitar riffs and pulsating beats, bring listeners into a world where you might find Joe Cocker, Dave Matthews and Bob Seger tipping back a six-pack on the back of a dusty pick-up truck between jam sessions under a hot August sun. Weinsztok's songwriting is ripe with emotion and drips with just enough heartache, patience and sorrow to drive the most removed lovers back into each other's arms."

Soul Risin' teamed up with Jocko and More Sound again in spring of 2012 to work on their third full-length release, Rise & Fall. The album officially released on October 16, 2012.

All Soul Risin' albums are available on iTunes and a host of other online stores. However, simply listening through your stereo or headphones couldn't possibly suffice. You won't be fully satisfied until you've experienced them live and on stage.
