About Raphael L Official
L12 was born in 1990 and grew up in Heilbronn, Germany. During the 90s his parents as well as his grandmother used to have a turntable and a vinyl collection in their living room. So he grew up listening to Vinyl. Raphael was always impressed by the turntable's technology and his interest in mixing grew more and more after he moved. First from Heilbronn to Mannheim and one year later to Heidenheim. During that time he heard a track that made him find his style in Techno Music: Dubfire-Grindhouse (Planet Terror Remix). The pressure and drive, the stomping bassline that forces you to dance in kombination with the leading dark vocals, awoke in him the ambition to start mixing.
At the beginning he started mixing various kinds of electronic music. Like Drum 'n' Bass, Tech-House , Deep House. But he fall in love with as he calls the 'typical club sound' produced by artists such as Daniel Steinberg, Sascha Braemer, Adam Port.
With his first turntables and a couple of vinyls he struggled through a kind of love-hate relationship in order to master his skills. Because of his will ambition and his love to electronic music he always improved.
With time, the constant improvement in mixing, listening and the discovery of new artists such as Octave One, Chris Liebing, Pfiter, Monoloc, Brian Sanji, Len Faki, Rebekah he realized that the club music he knew was not good enough. This new sound Raphael fall in love with, made him upgrade his Vinyl collection and find his personal style that he has till now.
Nowadays Raphael is also mixing digitally using Traktor and a controller. He also makes his first steps in Techno Production by converting his over the years gained experience, in a digital form, in this area he is bringing in his personal touch to sound. Dull, raw, impulsive yet with a build in touch of emotion.
Raphael L. personally loves the analog sound. Partly someone could compare his sound to the sound of the Classic Detroit sound. Like Jeff Mills and Plastikman.
Through his ambition, will, hard work and love for Techno he made a name in the scene and played at various gigs such as:
Tanz Haus West (Frankfurt)
MTW (Offenbach)
Nachtleben (Frankfurt)
Kulturbahnhof (Mittelsinn)
Technoides Beben (Alpha Club/Schwäbisch Hall), UCF (Wochenend-Festival/Innsbruck), "Hauptsache es klatscht"-Afterhour (Jenseits/Darmstadt), Elektronisch, praktisch, gut (Badeanstalt/Heidenheim), Pirates of Techno, Vol. 1 (Meteor Club/Lengfurt)
