About The Old Paints
Who Are The Old Paints? “…the varied and sometimes eccentric instrumentation goes miles in developing the group’s character.” -Magic City Bands Yes, that’s right. The Old Paints are a band with character and an eccentric girl who plays the log. They’re also the band that goes through bass players like Spinal Tap goes through drummers. The Old Paints formed in 2013 after Breely Flower, the girl who plays the log, met Andy Harris at his weekly open mic. The duo has since performed hundreds of shows all over Alabama and have toured the Southeast and East Coast steadily over the last two years. Michael Carter and Ramy Noureddini are their 15th and 16th bass players, respectively. The other fourteen are dead. Depending on the venue, you might hear the Paints at full blast: jangly, fuzzed-out, and flying their indie rock flag; or you might catch them at a farmers' market, with just an acoustic guitar and a piece of cedar that is quite the novel percussion instrument. The Paints are trying to be the world’s most versatile band. Discography: 2017 – Girl (cassingle) 2016 – Vending Machine (Vinyl 7”) 2015 – This Machine (full album) 2013 – First Ten Songs (full album) 2018 – FunnySexyCool (full album, currently recording at Andy’s studio) Prizes: 2016 – Girls Rock Birmingham Songwriting Contest Winner (“Girl” by Breely Flower) 2015 – Sidewalk Film Fest Scrambled Jam – Audience Choice Music Video for “What Did Rock & Roll Ever Do For You, Anyway?” The Old Paints are: Breely Flower: drums, vocals Andy Harris: guitar, vocals Michael Carter: bass Learning & writing as many songs as possible.
