Regarded as one of the top Latin American jazz singers of our time (George Varga, San Diego Union-Tribune), award-winning international recording artist Julia Vari has enchanted audiences around the globe for over a decade with her unique fusions of jazz, world music, and Latin rhythms. Vari’s creative musical arrangements, extraordinary stage presence and expressive vocals, and subtle yet elegant piano stylings have brought her considerable success both within and outside Latin America, including five solo albums, a recent Hollywood Music in Media nomination, and performances at Mexico City’s National Auditorium “Lunario,” Real Carlos Aranjuez Theater in Spain, National Arts Center in Ottawa, the CLAZZ International Latin Jazz Festival with Arturo Sandoval, and the Eclectic Music Festival in Los Angeles.
This versatile singer-songwriter, pianist and composer sings in eight languages and has toured extensively through the U.S., Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Spain behind a pair of ground-breaking, chart-topping full-length album releases: a jazz-inflected fusion titled Lumea: Songs of the World in Jazz, followed by Adoro. Both albums soared to the top of the jazz-blues charts in Latin America, competing with artists such as Michael Bublé and Diana Krall, and leading her to share the stage and collaborate with musical icons such as Grammy-winning artists Arturo Sandoval, Luciana Souza and Francisco Cespedes; Grammy-winning producers Oscar Autie, Robert Hadley, and Mario Santos; and the legendary Armando Manzanero.
Considering herself a citizen of the world, Vari has recorded material and performs in six languages beyond her native Spanish and English. At University of Rochester’s renowned Eastman School of Music, her studies included voice, piano theory and composition, as well as musical theater training at New York University. With an extraordinary voice that can growl its way through a torchy love song one moment, go operatic the next and then shift smoothly into jazz, world music, or any other musical idiom, Vari’s passion is mixing different genres into exciting fusions. She has been called the “Diana Krall of Mexico” and more recently has been known to perform piano-vocal concerts in addition to quartet and big band.
Julia Vari now divides her time between Miami and Mexico City, and is proud voting member of the Grammy Recording Academy, a BMI songwriter, and a William Morris Endeavor Agency exclusive artist for Voice Overs.
Vari also performs as a Headliner on luxury cruise lines.

Reconocida como “una de las cantantes de jazz latinoamericanas más importantes de esta época” (George Varga, San Diego Union Tribune), la cantante, pianista y compositora Julia Vari se destaca por su extraordinaria presencia en los escenarios, su destacada técnica vocal, y sus arreglos musicales refinados y creativos. Respaldada por cinco álbumes, 15 años de trayectoria, y una reciente nominación al Hollywood Music Media Awards, Vari se ha presentado en numerosos teatros y festivales de prestigio, entre ellos el “Lunario” del Auditorio Nacional de la Ciudad de México, el Festival Internacional de Latin Jazz CLAZZ, el Teatro Real Carlos III de España, el National Arts Center de Ottawa, y el Red Tie Arts Festival en Los Ángeles, California.

Vari ha llevado a cabo importantes giras por Estados Unidos, España y América Latina presentando sus álbumes innovadores de jazz fusionado con ritmos del mundo: Lumea: Canciones del Mundo en Jazz, seguido de Adoro, un homenaje a la música mexicana. Ambos encabezaron las listas de Top Jazz & Blues en México y en varios países latinoamericanos, compitiendo con artistas de la talla de Michael Buble y Diana Krall, y la consiguiente colaboración con iconos como el legendario maestro ARMANDO MANZANERO, el artista cubano nominado al Latin Grammy FRANCISCO CÉSPEDES y el bolerista mexicano CARLOS CUEVAS, así como la oportunidad de compartir el escenario en festivales con los ganadores al Grammy ARTUR SANDOVAL y LUCIANA SOUZA, y de trabajar con ingenieros ganadores al Grammy ÓSCAR AUTIE y MARIO SANTOS.

Hija de una pianista con formación clásica y de un guitarrista consumado convertido en médico, Vari tuvo la oportunidad de viajar durante muchos años entre Estados Unidos, México y diferentes países de Europa, lo que le ha llevado a considerarse una ciudadana del mundo. En la prestigiada Escuela de Música Eastman de Nueva York, Julia estudió canto, teoría del piano y composición, así como teatro musical en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU).

Con una voz extraordinaria que en un momento puede susurrar al oído un bolero y al siguiente volverse operística para después cambiar suavemente al jazz, bossa nova o cualquier otro lenguaje musical, Julia Vari mezcla diferentes géneros de una manera muy original y llamativa. Su carisma musical se destaca tanto en el jazz como en los boleros o en los ritmos del mundo, y quizás más aún en aquellos espacios no explorados en donde estos se mezclan. Ha ganado el apodo de “Diana Krall de México,” sorprendiendo con frecuencia a su público con su estilo único al piano y más recientemente llevando a cabo conciertos acompañándose al piano.

Actualmente, la artista radica entre Miami y la Ciudad de México, y es una orgullosa miembro con derecho a voto de los premios GRAMMY, compositora de BMI y artista exclusiva de la Agencia William Morris Endeavor para talentos de voz en off. Asimismo, Vari se presenta varias veces al año en cruceros de lujo como “headliner” (artista invitada).
