About Albany

Hailing from the back streets of Coventry in 2007 - riding the waves for 10 years and eventually brought together by the fate of a wedding, Albany are a 4 piece, powerful indie rock group from Lincoln with a rough edge and one unanimous passion – to resurrect the anthemic British guitar appeal.
Albany’s songs are written by singer and lead guitarist Matt Duke. With his mind set on delivering the notion that ‘all great songs are the ones that tell a story,’ and with the band’s broad scale of influences brought to the table, ranging from Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Marr, Foals and The Charlatans, mixed with the other side of the pond from Nirvana, Green Day and Kings Of Leon, Albany’s songs turn out to do exactly that – hit you with a personal meaning.
After releasing their first six-track EP ‘Lead The Way’ back in June 2015, Albany went on to play a number of prestigious gigs in the following 18 months. These included playing alongside Scouting For Girls at Mudfest in Newark, a headline slot at The Shed Leicester, The Fiddlers Elbow Camden and recorded a live session in August 2016 for BBC Introducing in Lincolnshire, where their tracks still continue to be aired now.

Following the success and the positive reception of ‘Lead The Way,’ 2017 sets to be another notable year for the band, with their long awaited, highly anticipated second EP ‘Outside The Lines,’ due for release in May.
Following the footsteps of Arctic Monkeys and Reverend & The Makers in March, recording at 2Fly Studios in Sheffield, the new six-track ‘journey’ illustrates an obvious evolved and perfected sound, set to raise their game in 2017 and expose them right into the spotlight they deserve.
With a modern, psychedelic take on the 90’s guitar movement and roughened up around the edges from the punk side of their peers, ‘Outside The Lines’ perfectly defines their collective sound as a band.

This year Albany start their EP promotion tour in April, kicking off with a couple of hometown gigs in Lincoln, before moving out further afield to Shirebrook and Chesterfield.
With more dates and another live radio session in the process of being confirmed very soon, this year the band will continue their mission to spread the fire in bringing back the honest, big chorused sing-alongs that are sorely missed by the masses.
The truth makes for a good story, but what mystery that story tells is up to you to come and find out for yourselves.
