One8tea (Pronounced 180) is a hip hop artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He comes from a very musical family with an award winning Uncle who changed over to only perform Christian music. Also his grandmother was part of an acapella gospel group called the Bruce Sisters who toured Nova Scotia bringing the Gospel. He began his musical life as a serious hip hop artist in 1995 immediately picking up speed in the east coast club and university circuit. This life of “chasing the dream” as he calls it quickly spiraled out of control and he found himself addicted to drugs and losing everything including family. A close friend ministered to him about Jesus and after attending Church with him Teah was interested in a relationship with his Savior. He changed his name to One8tea as a representation of the u-turn and change in his life. “Doing a 180 is the definition of repentance” Turning from your old ways. He entered a faith based rehab program in New Brunswick called Teen Challenge a yearlong program and there he received a renewed strengthened relationship as Jesus then became his Lord and Savior. After graduating from TC it was evident that he needed to preach the gospel in the best way he knew how, by releasing the “The Chronicles Mixtape” and then followed it up with his latest mixtape called “Under Construction”. Now living in Moncton, New Brunswick with his wife and children and as a member of Kingdom Music which is led by 2x grammy nominee Fresh IE it is his mission to reach those that are lost.
