About D-Day

'D-Day' are a 4-piece band from Galway. The band was formed by brothers Darragh (lead guitar, lead vocals) and Keith Whyte (drums & percussion) who joined forces with school friends Chris Breslin (bass, backing vocals) and Cathal Sweeney (rhythm guitar, backing vocals).

Notable milestones in their career thus far:

After honing their unique mix of '60s style rock vocals and modern instrumental sound in the practice room, they burst onto the Irish music scene in 2012 supporting 'Thin Lizzy' (Volvo Ocean Race Festival). Since then, 'D-Day' have been on a non-stop mission to introduce new audiences to their own alternative brand of rock 'n' roll sensibility.

In 2014, they released their self-titled 5 track EP at the Roisin Dubh and cemented a place on the Galway music scene with gigs in Monroe's Live, An Pucan, The Cellar, Fibber Magee's, NUIG's College Bar and Nun's Island Theatre.

2015 saw D-Day play a string of festival shows including Carrickmacross Arts Festival, eventually culminating in a slot at Rocktoberfest, Monroe's Live alongside acts like The Hot Sprockets. They were also crowned winners of the NUI Galway Witless Battle of the Bands. Their song 'Long Time Gone' was mixed by record engineer Mike Fraser who has worked with acts like Aerosmith, Bryan Adams, Metallica and most recently AC/DC. This song was also used in the Netflix TV Show ''Club de Cuervos''.

This year has been their most prolific to date, with a relentless summer tour which began in June when they supported UK act 'Tokyo Taboo' (Workman's Club). From there, 'D-Day' shared the stage with the 'The Riptide Movement' and 'The Strypes' (Rock the Docks) and opened for 'Delorentos' and 'The Frank and Walters' (Carrickmacross Arts Festival). Their hectic summer schedule was brought to a fitting end with their debut show at Whelan's and a performance for Philomena Lynott at 'The Bash for Philo'

"They really are one of the hot up and coming Irish bands." - Ollie Turner, Galway Bay FM

“With a dynamic vocal style reminiscent of early-days Mick Jagger, and catchy, masterly rock n’ roll harmonies and riffs, D-Day are a band on a mission to keep the stripped-back sensibilities of the classics alive in an age where digital reigns king. You don’t want to miss these guys.” - Shannon Duvall, YouBloom

"This young Irish Band has a future. A good, crisp professional sound, with a little bit of a 60’s vibe." - The Falcon's Nest

''Never sacrificing the energy that powers their music - yet somehow managing to give the melodies space to breathe - D-Day are a vital and potent rising force in the music industry today.'' - James Fleming, Nitelife Magazine
