About Jason Mitchell

Jason Mitchell, born December 3rd 1975, grew up in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Jason began playing guitar by the age of 12 and rapidly realized that music was his passion. Jason honed his skills while practicing 5 hours a day; studying with private guitar instructors in classical, jazz, blues, and modern rock theory. Some of his earlier influences were Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Dream Theater, Jake E. Lee, Edward Van Halen, Steve Morse and Rush. Jason also attended The Braun School Of Music for formal vocal training during 1993 and received a Grant upon high school graduation. Post high school, Jason was accepted into the Berkley College Of Music with a scholarship. Jason’s career took him on a journey encompassing studio recording and countless east coast tours. He would go on to receive noteworthy press in such publications as the PA Musician and the Shinbone Magazine. In 1991 while working with his band Pyramyx, they released “Define The Difference”, a four song demo rooted in progressive rock. It was recorded at Savior Studio in Pennsylvania, engineered by Jamie Parker and given a helping hand by then music instructor John Hahn (Leviathan Records). In 1996 Jason took roots with Pennsylvania punk-based band Stickman Morley. Mid 1997, Jason and Stickman Morley took some time off to record “Farmer Brown’s On The Take”. It landed commercial radio airplay and a spot on “PA’s Finest Compilation CD” Vol. 4. The band continued performing through 1999 riding on the success of the recording. From 1999 to 2016 Jason appeared in regional and east coast touring acts such as Slyde 1999, Hinge 2000-2002, Five-P 2007-2008, Kill Valentine 2008, Finding Isaiah 2008, Emily's Toybox 2009 and The Zone 2009-2016. Currently, Jason resides in Philadelphia. He can be seen with the east coast touring sensation Separate Ways The Band, a tribute to Journey. Jason also hosts solo acoustic shows since 2007 while sporadically recording and releasing his acoustic treasures. He has appeared at Penn's Peak, many of PA's premier rock venues in Harrisburg, Allentown and Philadelphia all the way to Key West FL, Put-In-Bay OH, Atlantic City NJ and FedEx Stadium. Jason has performed everything from intimate acoustic shows to rock festivals with his bands reaching 15,000 person capacity venues, MLB and NFL stadiums while sharing the stage with Fuel and .38 Special to name a few. Jason is proudly endorsed by InTune Guitar Picks and SIT Strings. Separate Ways The Band Guitarist/Vocalist (A Journey Tribute Show) & Freelance Artist...
