Kjersti Kveli

Norwegian songwriter and performer. Originally from a tiny town called Snåsa, in Nord-Trøndelag, right in the heart of Norway. (basically the middle of the country, where the moose, reindeer and trolls live:) After many years in New York City, focusing on the modern classical music of today, she returned to her home country to pursue a career writing songs in Norwegian, and performing traditional music from her region. With her band Ljom, she explores the fascinating tradition of cow calls and traditional fiddle music, arranged for a mixed traditional and modern band. With a new group, initiated by the national stage for traditional Norwegian music, (Riksscenen) and Nord-Trøndelag's biggest festival for traditional music, Hilmarfestivalen - to become the next big superstars of pop-folklore. The group was formed in the fall of 2016, and goes by the name "Maren Fenris". Kveli writes lyrics and music for this group, together with the fiddle player Torfinn Hofstad. With her own band, and her other bands she has played venues such as Moskus, Cafe Ni Muser, Mathallen, Rockheim and Ila Brainnstasjon in Trondheim, Riksscenen, Buckley's, Josefines Visescene and Sound of MU in Oslo, Vårt Hjem, Damsaga Hovedscene and Steinkjer Kirke in Steinkjer Norwegian Folksinger and Composer.
