About Anna Madsen

Originally from Utah, Anna Madsen currently calls New Hampshire home. Taking
inspiration from classic romanticism, fairy tales, and her personal
experiences, Anna uses story telling through music as a way to create worlds
that listeners can enter and completely absorb.

Musically, Anna has been described as "Lana Del Rey meets Kate Bush meets
Enya," but ultimately her music is completely her own and expands beyond one
genre. Her influences include classical composers, church hymns from her
childhood, world music, and modern Alternative Rock and Folk / Americana.

She released her debut EP, "Palm Reader," in October 2015. It quickly
garnered positive reviews. The blog site yourband.info called "Palm Reader"
the "most creative and spectacular album of the year." In a lengthy review
on MusicalDiscoveries.com, Russ Elliot called the record "stunning" and
awarded it a Best of the Year for 2015. And Michael Witthaus, writing in the
New Hampshire entertainment paper, The Hippo, stated that "Madsen is a
brilliant song crafter. 'Palm Reader' is bathed in an ethereal glow." The EP
was included in The Hippo's list of best local releases for 2015.

August 2015 saw Anna acting in the motion picture, Granite Orpheus. The
film's soundtrack features Anna's song, "Palm Reader" as well as an Anna
Madsen/Alex Preston duet, "I Would Save You."

In January 2016, Anna received two New England Music Awards nominations
(Best New Act and Video of the Year) and was invited to perform at the
Awards Show in April 2016. In February 2016, she was invited to perform for
New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan and the Executive Council at the State
House in Concord, New Hampshire. She received a Best of NH award in June
2016 and performed at the Best of NH show at Delta Dental Stadium in
Manchester, NH.

Anna came to the attention of the international music community after the
release of her debut album, Efflorescence, in May 2016. Anna was hailed by
the music blog New Music Ear as an artist to watch in its "4 2 Watch" story,
while The Culture Trip selected her to represent New Hampshire in its "50
Musicians You Need to Know from Each State in the U.S."

In December 2016, Anna's reworking of the Advent hymn, "O Come, O Come,
Emmanuel," entered regular rotation on BBC Radio 2, leading to inclusion on
Spotify UK's Hot Hits UK playlist. Also in December, Anna performed on
Britain's ITV "Christmas Carols" program, which was broadcast nationwide in
the UK on Christmas Eve 2016.

Her second full length album, Whisper, was released in March 2017,
distributed by Nova via Universal Music. The record features notable
appearances from Anthony Phillips of Genesis, Kate St. John of Dream
Academy, and drummers Jonathan Mover and Dave Mattacks.

In February 2017, Anna received a Songwriter of the Year nomination from the
New England Music Awards.

In Spring of 2017 Anna toured across The United Kingdom to promote her album, Whisper,
and is currently working on her third studio album.
