About Help Me Helen
Native Virginian Debra Guy thrives on sharing her homegrown, authentic songs with others, and her passion for writing and singing shine through her energetic and captivating performances. Guy turns heads with her distinctive, strong voice, and gritty, honest tunes. Drawing inspiration from her life, her lyrics often provide an element of catharsis for listeners, reaching them on a deeply personal level.
Award-winning solo artist Guy spent ten years honing her live performance skills with Washington DC’s alternative rock outfit Honeychuck, gracing such the stages as DC ‘s 9:30 Club, Baltimore’s Ottobar, and Arlington, VA’s IOTA Club and Café.
In 2015, she emerged into her new hometown’s singer-songwriter scene of Charlottesville, Virginia, fronting the folk rock quartet,
Help Me Helen.
Chicago import, guitarist/bassist/songwriter Drew Pompano, drummer Zachary Bullock, and vocalist Kelly Kroese complete Help Me Helen, rounding out Guy’s songs with the perfect complement of tasteful rhythms, soaring bass lines, and refreshing harmonies. Their debut recording, “Side A” (2016) is not unlike a traditional vinyl recording, full of catchy, driving tunes with memorable melodies and infectious grooves.
