About Valeria DeCastro
Brazilian musician, choreographer, director, actress and art performer. In 1978 Valeria started her studies in guitar with Mestre Gamela and composition with the composer Emilio Terraza at the University of Brasilia, Brazil. In 2015, Valeria formed a duo with Dena El Saffar (violin & viola). The duo plays a diverse repertoire of Brazilian smooth jazz with sophisticated rhythms and improvisations. Other than Brazil and the US, Valeria has performed in Italy, Spain, and Costa Rica. Valeria teaches music for children and is the center director for Bloomington Music Together.
