Promethean

PROMETHEAN is a symphonic blackened death metal band formed in late 2013 in Paris, France.

It is currently composed of Leo Godart (composition/drums), Nicolas Cardoso (vocals), Matthieu Cardoso (lead guitar), Gaëtan Marquer (rhythm guitar), Dino Dieleman (bass) and Axel Hurard (keyboards), seconded by Olivier Reucher (Remember The Light) for orchestral arrangements.

The first couple of years of the project were dedicated to the learning and arrangements of compositions developed by Leo Godart as well as stabilizing its line-up after the departure of Louis Lafitte (vocals – Insain, Guttural Deepthroat, Dissected Mind) and François Chanvallon (lead guitar –Adastrae) after he recorded his parts for what would constitute the band’s debut EP: Aloades.

Aloades is a four tracks EP (21 minutes and a half) produced at the Axone Studio (Paris) and published on February 9th, 2017, whose main theme is Greek mythology.
The title is a reference to the ordeal endured by twins Otus and Ephialtès after they tried to abduct Hera and Artemis. Zeus condemned the vainglorious giants to remain enchained back to back forever at the confines of Tartarus.

The fourth track A Forbidden Symphony is however heralding to the future full-length album of the group (no date announced at the moment) which will deal with the myths from writer and unavoidable master of cosmic horror H.P. Lovecraft’s imagination.

PROMETHEAN’s music is characterized by intense extreme metal with powerful grandiloquentsymphonic accents, inspired from diverse influences in metal (Emperor, Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse etc.) or classical music as well (Serguei Prokofiev, Sergei Rachmaninov, Ryan Amon, etc.).
