Bombshell Academy

Bombshell Academy is an upbeat, aggressive, six piece ska/punk/pop band from Salt Lake City hell bent on driving the next wave in ska evolution. Their smoldering, punchy vocals, driving guitars, frenetic drums and growling horn lines pay tribute to genre giants like No Doubt, Sublime and Rancid while refusing to play nicely with ska purists. That said, they have opened for some heavy hitting Ska/ punk acts including The Toasters, the Maxies, Suburban Legends and Mad Caddies. Bombshell Academy has managed to cross genres and regularly plays to rockabilly, hard rock, punk, reggae and festival crowds all over the area. You may have heard them at the recent SLC Arts Festival, the Urban Arts Festival at the Gateway and the Utah State Fair. Their first EP, Skaholics Anonymous, was released in 2014. It sold out its first run and is currently available in its second run as well as ITunes, Reverbnation etc. There are strange rumors brewing of a full length LP of all original songs. ( PHYSICAL COPIES NOW SOLD OUT!!!!) Bombshell Academy is evolving. This evolution has not been without casualties. Late nights, dingy bars, long weekends in the hot sun or rain all contribute to occasional member turnover. Undaunted, it's surviving touring members continue to write music and plan big things for the coming year. From the tenacious, focused, intact member core, and the occasional infusion of fresh blood from new members, comes new alchemical sound, adding to the sometimes ear splitting, mosh pit inducing cacophony....which then leads right back to the rainbow of ska Punk. For the benefit of tamer souls, they are experimenting with acoustic versions of their original songs. Less volume but equally as dangerous to your tranquil evening plans. Bombshell Academy wants to remind you of the old school sounds of ska punk, while taunting you forward into the first swelling of a brand new wave. Wade carefully, you just might get pulled in.
