Karlos Paez Music

Karlos Paez was born July 22, 1972 and was raised in Tijuana, Mexico with his mother Refugio Mujica and Father Ezequiel Paez. His mother was from a border town called Tecate, Mexico and his Father was from El Recodo, Sinaloa. At 16 Ezequiel Paez was already a professional trombone player and traveled to Tijuana, Mexico. In Tijuana, he joined a very famous band called Los Moonlights. They recorded over 10 records and traveled the world. Ezequiel returned to Sinaloa, Mexico later on in his career to play and arrange music for the world famous Banda Del Recodo. He currently has two solo records and arranges for Banda Del Recodo, Los Recoditos, Banda Limon, and Ezequiel Pena.

Inspired by his musical family, by the age of 16 Karlos was already perfoming live on Avenida Revolucion in Tijuana, Mexico. In 1994 he created the B Side Players with bass player, Sergio Hernandez(Amenity, House of Suffering). B Side Players is a San Diego based world music band that incorporates the sounds of Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico and Brazil with funk, rock, jazz, reggae, cumbia, and hip-hop. Signed to Jazz label Concord Music Group the B Side Players have expanded their sound by playing with the likes of Ben Harper, The Wailers, James Brown, War, Poncho Sanchez, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Sheila E and many other greats.

Karlos Paez is still touring and recording with the B Side Players but has made time to produce and create many other musical projects. As the creator, lead singer and songwriter of Maiz, Black Market Disciples, High Vibe Galactic, Chula Vista Soldier Club, Sonido De La Frontera and Solrak and the New Aztec Empire, Karlos Paez celebrates his first solo record Music, Culture, Love. With the help of San Diego’s most talented musicians and producer/musician Bryan Stratman. This record delivers organic, soulful, cosmic grooves with conscious lyrics inspired by the MUSIC, CULTURE, and LOVE of Karlos Paez.
