DJ Versus

For over 17 years you have had the chance to catch Versus playing in the DJ booth at premier clubs in Bulgaria and abroad. Barely fourteen years old Versus chose his destiny – to manipulate music and spread his message to the fans through it – to be a DJ.

Everything started in the beginning of the 90s when his father owned a company which produced sound and DJing equipment. Immersed in such an atmosphere in short time Versus got in love with the sound – its character and quality – the hi-fi club found a new member. While his friends were outside, playing football in the school yard, he collected a mountain of speakers in his room and disturbed the sleep of the neighbors even in distant neighborhoods, and his allowance money were spend solely on music. Fourteen years old Versus landed his first gigs in local clubs playing mainstream music. Two years later he abandoned the commercial sound when he became impressed with electronic music, its rebellious feeling and avant-garde messages it carried, especially in the early 90s. Its 1995-6 – Versus organized a number of underground events in his home town – Nova Zagora, and the region. Later, he helped establish club “Opium” as the first place where the alternative youth could gather to listen to electronic music served by its messiah – Versus.

In a few years he gathered solid experience behind the decks. In the beginning of the new century he was already a college student in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, where and when techno music was at its peak, and Versus was relentlessly filling up his record case with vinyl which he still keeps to this day. He appeared everywhere – Spartacus, Indigo, Metropolis, Street Parade, Blade, Comics, and a lot more top destinations around the country which were the places to be back in the beginning of the 00s. In the mean time numerous gigs in Greece, Serbia and Macedonia followed. During this time he and his colleague DJ Smooke created the Hitex Promotions agency. They worked successfully under this name for years and racked up a solid number of quality gigs around the country, either playing together or promoting events under the Hitex brand. Around 2004-5, a bit tired of the heavy grooves Versus changed the contents of his case with music which has been his biggest passion – house! The good name he created for himself from the old school helped propelled him to house music heaven – Xtravaganzza, Arrodance, Plazma, Excess, Comics, Momo, Spartacus and many other well-known Bulgarian clubs. During this period he held residences at a couple of hot club spots – Stereo (Blagoevgrad), Alien’s (Sofia), Fashion (Nova Zagora), Terra Dance Lounge (Stara Zagora), among the others.

Since the spring of 2007 Versus has his own resident show on the waves of the biggest and most successful electronic music radio in south-east Europe – Alpha Radio, called “Alpha Club” – presenting the vision of Versus for proper club music. The show’s ratings have been more than exceptional and it spreads his message to numerous listeners both in Bulgaria and abroad. In the year 2008 Versus was invited to play at Exit festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. This prestigious gig marks Versus as one of the first artists who have represented Bulgaria at such an important event of world-wide fame. In the beginning of 2009, after many successful gigs at club Plazma (Plovdiv) Versus got the prestigious invitation to become one of the club’s residents. He still holds this residency to this day and he shares the decks with some of the world’s leading artists and DJs.

2010 definitely brought positive changes to Versus’ career. In the end of the year he landed the residency spot at club Spacer (Sofia) – the newest and biggest spot for electronic music in the Bulgarian capital where he regularly opens for a myriad of international talent. During 2010 Versus also made two very successful tours in the house music Mecca – Spain. In the same year he got yet another prestigious invitation – to join Bulgaria’s most powerful booking agency – InSound Promotions. It was no surprise because this is the home of some his closest colleagues and friends – Andrez, Double D, Ross & Spassoto, Shoto, Vesselin, D. Denchev, among the others.

Cacao, Xtravaganzza, Plazma, Spacer, Mania are just but a few of the places where you can hear and meet Versus. What Versus what – the excitement of a well-spent night at a club versus the same old stay-at-home-listening-to-mind-numbing-music routine.

Точно 20 са годините, откакто може да срещнете Versus зад DJ пултовете на различни дестинации и събития в страната и зад граница. Едва на 14, все още неосъзнатият за нещата от живота младеж осъзнава това, което в последствие ще се окаже най-важното - страстта си към музиката. През този дълъг период от време следват ежеседмични участия, някои от които прерастват в резидентури в различни клубни точки из страната, както и дългогодишна в Алфа радио, спрягано за безспорен лидер в югоизточна Европа като такова с клубен формат. Покрай всичко това Versus има уникалната възможност и шанс да дели една сцена със значителен брой интернационални топ диджей икони. Участията му зад граница започват да се случват още през ранните 2000. Испания, Великобритания, Гърция, Сърбия, Македония и др. - електронната музика не познава граници. Днес Versus е резидент диджей на култовата пловдивска дестинация Plazma - 14 годишна институция, последните 7, от които преминават под неговото деригентство. Паралелно с бурния нощен живот на диджея, Versus прекарва и доста часове в студиото си, работейки над собствена продукция с емблематичен, характерен за него саунд - хипнотичен бленд от техно, тек хаус, прогресив хаус. Освен пословичен фанатизъм на тема музика, още една болест бушува в тази DJ глава - абсолютна страст и съответни познания и умения на тема "аудио техника" - това пък води до наследяване и доразвиване на бащиния бизнес, за да стане той днес един от водещите в audio & light рентал бранша.
