Niall O'Sullivan - Trumpet

Since the release of his self titled, self produced debut album in 2011, Irish trumpeter Niall O’Sullivan has firmly established himself as an accomplished performer in the classical and easy listening genres of music. His album of classical works, jazz standards, contemporary pop, and traditional Irish songs entered the Classical iTunes charts at #1. Niall started performing at the age of eight in the Artane Boys Band, Dublin. He performed all over Ireland and America with the band. With “the best foundation imaginable” in place, Niall started lessons on scholarship at the DIT Conservatory. He then studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music for a further four years. Niall was awarded a scholarship for post graduate studies at the Royal College of Music, London. During his time at the RCM, Niall was principal trumpet with all the orchestras and chamber ensembles. Niall also developed his commercial trumpet playing and began jazz studies. He represented the RCM as a soloist at festivals and as a participant on the side by side scheme with the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra. Niall has played and recorded with all of the professional orchestra’s in Ireland including several appointments as guest principal trumpet with the RTE Concert, Irish Chamber, Dublin Philharmonic, and the Irish Philharmonic Orchestras. As a soloist Niall has performed with the Orchestra of St Cecilia, Irish Baroque, RTE Concert, Dublin Symphony, Orlando Chamber and Trinity Chamber Orchestras. He has performed all over Europe, America and China. Niall has worked under renowned conductors Bernard Haitink, Valeriy Gergiov and Sir Colin Davis. On the commercial side of playing Niall has worked with Tom Jones, Michael Búble, Amy Winehouse, Perry Como, Dionne Warwick, Curtis Stigers, Katherine Jenkins, Imelda May, Chris de Burgh, The Pogues, Lalo Schifrin, Jose Carreras, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Russell Watson, Sinead O’Conor, Bill Whelan and many many more.
