About Katsuk

Like a breeze of fresh air resonating forth from the heart of Texas, KatsüK [n. catsook] is a powerfully magnetic group at the forefront of a fervent world transformation in conscious music. Cognizant in its lyrical message and veracious in its tone, KatsüK, seamlessly fuses world sounds with classical instrumentation, tribal percussion, infectious pop/folk melodies and a soaring and deeply odic quality of frontman and founder, Daniel Katsük's voice. 2014 NEW ZEALAND THERE & BACK AGAIN TOUR: The motivation of this tour began 15 years earlier with the call to hitchhike around the world and forever disappear into the mysterious and isolated beauty of New Zealand. Yet as one direction led to another, and Daniel wound his way through the immutable Southwestern desert of the United States, slowly he began finding his voice and center, thus leading him to the name KatsüK; a Seminole word meaning “In the middle” or “Center” from which all things emanate. Upon seeing first hand the authentic reality found on the road, Daniel began writing songs that embraced the wonder of our existence, the importance of community, and the inevitable emancipation of Self from self-imposed suffering. This new leaf led to tours with Lollapalooza, the Bob Marley Fest and around the nation as part of the gypsy circus known as Spoonfed Tribe, later A-hummin’ Acoustical Acupuncture (AAA) and in 2008, Daniel formed the group KatsüK. With the help of renowned producer Jeff Dahlgren, KatsüK released a 15 track sonic horizon called Zero Point (2012), a highly anticipated follow up to KatsuK’s first album, Out In The Wind (2008). In the summer of 2014, Daniel returned to his long lost desire to visit New Zealand, this time with the powerful purpose of getting the song "There and Back Again" into the last Hobbit movie. During his travels, Daniel was able to connect with many of the actors affiliated with the Hobbit and LOTR and through this process of pursuing his dream, despite the odds, a clear resurrected vision and poignant sound emerged that has the ability to cross all borders. The result of this journey has landed Daniel back in Texas with a talented and dynamic group of musicians, dedicated to the mission of bringing uplifting and transformational music to the world stage. Currently, KatsüK is in the middle of recording a new album called Labyrinth, due out early 2015 that is by far the fullest representation of the sound Daniel imagined hitchhiking through the winding desert many years ago. The first release from Labyrinth includes the track "Open Sea," a piece of music that has become an anthem of transformation and awakening. KatsüK has shared the stage with such esteemed and varied acts as Colin Hay (Men At Work), Nahko & Medicine For The People, Galactic, Los Lonely Boys, Rising Appalachia, Kan’Nal, Cas Haley, Cowboy Mouth, Guy Forsyth, Brave Combo, Railroad Earth and many others. The band has also been featured in several festivals including Arise Fest, Dreamtime, NX35, Earth Dance, Clearfork Music Fest, Deep Ellum Arts Fest, Heaven On Earth Festival, and many more. The music of Daniel Katsük has also been featured in the television shows Dragonball Z, Case Closed, and Full Metal Alchemist (all appearing on Cartoon Network), and Daniel also utilizes his voice as an anime actor. Credits include: Spiral, Dragonball & Dragonball Z, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Kiddy Grade, Full Metal Alchemist, Grappler Baki, Case Closed, Samurai 7, Lupin the 3rd, Burst Angel, Desert Punk, Trinity Blood, Speed Grapher, Sakura Wars and more. 10 ft. tall!!!
