About dDamage
Hip-hop beats, furious samples and analogue synths morph into audio-terrorism in the hands of the duo dDamage. French brothers Jean-Baptiste and Frederic Hanak have been unleashing inexplicable sonics since 2000, thrashing out new definitions for experimental hip-hop.
Jean-Baptiste aka Boulder dDash is primarily a musician, with his own solo album Alien Folk Trash (2003) on Austrian experimental label Angelika Köhlermann. Frederic aka RudDe is purely an electronics engineer. The boys come from a musical family; their sister Emille is Milkymee, a Sweden-based singer-songwriter with an album on Tsunami-addiction.
The first dDamage release was in 1997; it was Reverbreak This Beat Down in a label-less 50-copy edition that was eventually re-released by the Swiss indie-electronic label Grafted in 2000. Another full-length followed in 2001, Harsh Reality Of Daily Life (featuring vocals from Milkymee) on the French label Alice in Wonder, but dDamage really broke through with their 2003 collaboration with TTC – the Trop Singe EP on Clapping Music. The release paved the way for a signing with Mike Paradinas’ Planet Mu, (home of Venetian Snares), which started with the acclaimed Radio Ape album in early 2004.
They next made their debut on Tigerbeat6, serving their signature electro-punk and cut-ups with friends (namely DJ Aï, Krazy Baldhead and Krikor) on the Ink808 12” and on the Tigerbeat6 compilation Let's Lazer Tag Sometime.
Their new LP Shimmy Shimmy Blade, released in November 2006 on Paris-based experimental label Tsunami-addiction, features some of the best underground MC's there are, including Existereo, Dose One, MF Doom, Bigg Jus, Orko, Sin, Mike Ladd, Tes, Stacs of Stamina, TTC, and more...
