Maddison's Thread

Maddison's Thread is the performance and recording name of North East of England based singer songwriter Lee Maddison. Lee often surrounds himself with an accomplished collective: Nigel Spaven (bass), Darren Moore (drums, percussion), Sue Ferris (sax, flute) as well as Internationally acclaimed fiddler Stewart Hardy. Together they create an earthy, acoustic driven soundscape that perfectly compliments the realism of Lee’s conscientiously crafted songs. Drawing on such classic songwriters as Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Richard Thompson and John Martyn, the band also name more contemporary artists such as Iron & Wine as influences. Driven by narrative and metaphor, a common thread of questing weaves through Lee’s songs. These are strongly melodic and unashamedly accessible, ranging from personal idylls of a world to strive for to reflections on the materialism and inequalities which pervade modern life. Lee's self titled debut album ‘Maddison's Thread,’ due for release later this year (2015)is an eclectic mix representing the range of his material, rooted in folk whilst embracing elements of blues, rock and country.
