About Of Serpents And Saviors

The original OSAS line up formed in early 2014 when Hector Juarez - Vocals, Gabriel Gonzales - guitars , Matt Wood - guitars and John Luna - drums decided to dissolve thier previouis project Freestate. Freestate had a more alternative sound with 2 vocalists and the members had decided to take a more heavy approach with the new material. With the heavier progression in style the decision was made to move on and create a new project and OSAS was born. The name Of Serpents And Saviors was brought up by guitarist Matt Wood which represented the bands belief systems with half of the band being Christian and half being Atheist but coming together as friends to make the mutual music they love. Hector moved from bass and vocals to lead vocals and the band recruited long time friend Jeremy Meza to fill in on bass and OSAS began playing shows locally. After playing a few shows and making a name for themselves Matt Wood decided to step down from OSAS to focus on his personal life. The band played a couple of shows as a 4 piece while looking for a new guitarist. The band turned to an old band mate Matt Gongora who had played with Hector and John in a previous project called The Perwinkle Massacre and was a natural fit for the band. With the line up set , the music and the band itself became tighter as a unit and the decision was made to start taking the band seriously and aim for taking the next steps in the music industry. In mid 2015 the band entered Precision Studios with long time friend and producer/engineer Rob Beltran (shattered sun, design the skyline) to record their debut single "Straight Through The Silence". A video for the song was shot in September of 2015 and uploaded to YouTube, which greatly helped the bands momentum getting them shows with the likes of Letlive, Carnifex, Norma Jean , Eyes Set to Kill to name a few. "Straight Through The Silence" also began recieving air play on local stations C101 and Rock 92.7. The band also played Headbang For The Highway's "Battle for Knotfest 2015" in AustinTX and finished 2nd out of 30 bands from all around Texas, winning a lyric video in the process. In December 2015 the band returned to the studio with Rob Beltran, at the same time which Rob, after gaining enough experience and music industry contacts being the tour manager and sound engineer for Shatterd Sun the previous year, had launched his new record label Hammer Forged Records with long time friend Justin DePalma. The label had just signed Memories In Broken Glass and decided to sign OSAS to a development deal. In May of 2015 after a strong showing of progress through the recording, live shows and social media interaction Hammer Forged Records decided to sign the band to the label and be a full fledged member of the Hammer Forged Family. The EP is set to release in the summer of 2016 and a full length record with US tour is in the works. 8 string metal. #OSAS
