About Tourist Trap - OH

Tourist Trap began in Spring, 2015 with guitarist Nathan Weirich and frontman Roberto Bryer. In May 2015, Nathan met bassist Zach Barnes through fellow musicians that lived in the same area and the project had become a three piece. The band began trying out drummers, but it didn't take long before Daniel Greenlee auditioned and made the band on the spot. After months of practicing, writing and recording, the band played their first show in the basement of a house (known as the inaugural First Annual Gnarbeque) and had their crowd of family and friends begging for more. In early Spring of 2016, after several more shows and releasing their first demo recorded at the iHeart performance lounge in Columbus, founding member Daniel Greenlee accepted a job offer in Tucson, AZ and had to relocate, leaving Tourist Trap without a percussionist. The band then met Shawn Wiler-Martin (currently in Urban Tropic), who auditioned to drum for the band and fit the spot perfectly. They recorded a few singles with Cameron of Songcatcher Studios, and began releasing them online slowly. The band played with great acts all over the city, and then they hosted their second house party, The Second Annual Gnarbeque. After the second Gnarbeque, the band received more press than anticipated, including write ups in The Columbus Dispatch, The OSU Lantern, Indie ION Magazine and TunedUp and they even got a chance to be a part of the CD102.5 Holiday Local Showcase for a chance to open for Band of Horses and Warpaint. The band played shows through fall and winter of 2016 and buckled down to record their debut EP with Cam from Songcatcher Studio. After several shows and a several months in the practice room, the band was ready to start laying down demo tracks for Going Postal. In late February of 2017, the band decided to part ways with percussionist Shawn Wiler-Martin in order for him to pursue his other projects and life goals, and continued forward to have Steve Hatmaker (Zoo Trippin', Throwing Rocks At Girls) record all percussion for the EP. Shortly after recording, the band hired percussionist Matt Straley to be a full time member of the band, filling out the line up for live shows once more. The band finished their EP titled "Going Postal" with Cam of Songcatcher Studios and released it in part with CD102.5 at The Big Room Bar in Columbus, OH on January 20th, 2018, and it is available through most online retail stores. The music is in the vein of alternative rock, indie, surf, blues, and punk. The band dubs their genre as "Rock n' roll porch punk", which has been a running joke within the band. They plan on playing several shows throughout the spring and summer, and recording more material later in the year, but are currently promoting their debut release around the midwest. Columbus-bred All-Americana alternative porch-punk. New EP 'Going Postal' available January 20th, 2018
