About Klue
Berlin-based, Australian-raised Artist/Producer, Klue, fuses together Soul, UK Bass Music and 70’s Afrobeat, jumping between the microphone, saxophone, mbira, and live percussion.
Inspired by the likes of Bonobo, Fela Kuti, Sam Cooke and Fat Freddy’s Drop, his vocal style hints at a childhood sound tracked by classic soul and reggae tunes of his mother’s record collection, while his production style tells of his discovery of electronic music as a teenager and early years as a club dj. He’s recently toured a full band show for the first time, played Glastonbury Festival and toured Europe and Africa with his band True Vibenation, and played major sets at Field Day, Rainbow Serpent and Subsonic Music Festival.
The last year has also seen his debut UK tour, supporting Dub FX for a sold out run including Electric Ballroom in London, Manchester Academy, and The Haunt in Brighton, and Australia tours with Thievery Corporation and Sticky Fingers.
On the recordings front, ‘So Good’ was selected by Jax Jones for his Artist Takeover on BBC Radio 1, he scored a #1 on the Australian iTunes World Chart with his single ‘Lifted’ and a world-wide release of his remix of Pnau’s Double Platinum single ‘Chameleon’ on Island Records.
Expectations are high, with inthemix including Klue in their ‘10 Artists about to take over Aussie Dance Music’, an inclusion in FasterLouder’s ‘8 Aussie Songs You Need To Hear’, while electronic behemoths Hermitude and Double J’s Lance Ferguson touted Klue as one of the ‘Top Australian Artists To Watch’. Sydney’s FBi Radio also locked Klue in as an ‘Independent Artist of the Week’.
Having toured through Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa, he also hosts a weekly radio show on FBi 94.5 ‘Bare Necessities’, an outlet for world music, rare groove and electronica.
His most recent releases, ‘Find Your Way’, ‘Closer’ and ‘Lifted’, are perfect summertime accompaniments of uplifting beats and tropical feels, following on from his ‘Daybreak’ EP which has accumulated over a million plays on Spotify.
