Minnesota Alt-Country artist Old Knifey is going back to basics with a stripped down re-invisioning of his West Duluth bar stool conceived, sad bastard tales. His previous projects include Duluth-based bands Old Knifey and the Cutthroats, and, more recently, the Cutthroats, the latter having recently released "The Friendly West End EP." Old Knifey's songwriting is a return to a pure simplified sound: old-fashioned, hard-luck country songs that serve as a tribute to the no bullshit, blue collar, straight whiskey Duluth neighborhood bars he favors. Dishing catchy one-liners like David Allen Coe with a Twitter handle, but without the racism or the rapsheet, it is the kind of music you want to hear at the end of the night, right before you forgot who drove you home.
