About Mark Dawson
Born in Chicago, IL. His early days included stints with Chicago-area favorites, "Street Kids", "Dreamer" and the "All-Night Newsboys".
In 1992, he released "Oblivious to the Unknown", the first CD from The All-Night Newsboys. He then followed-up with a second Newsboys release called "Playtime" in 1993.
Mark was named a Billboard Top 100 "Up-and-Coming Songwriter" in 1992. He was also hired as the singing voice of the Coors Light radio ads ("It's the Right Beer Now" campaign) from 1991 - 1993.
In 1994, Mark was honored with an Illinois Entertainer "Vocalist of the Year" nomination.
After moving to Florida in 1996, Mark joined a Doo-Wop/Motown vocal group called "The Streetlites". Later he began touring as the bassist & lead vocalist with the classic rock band The Grass Roots. He's also traveled with Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, as well as with members of Badfinger and The Hollies. While Mark continues to tour with the Grass Roots, he also spends time working with an Orlando-based band called "Simulcast" (www.simulcastband.com) and his very own "tribute" to the American artists of the 1960's, "American Pop 60's (www.Facebook.com/americanpop60s).
In late 2009, Mark released his first solo CD, "Chapter Two" (available through Amazon.com).
He's been on the Happy Togetger Tour, featuring the Turtles, Mickey Dolenz, Mark Lindsay, The Grass Roots, The Buckinghams, The Association and Gary Puckett for three years, 2010-2012.
Mark released his second solo CD, "Making Noise" in January of 2013. He also has a book in the works. "Dawsonisms" will cover thoughts and witticisms he has posted on twitter over the last several years. Stay tuned for details.
