About The Rotten

Forming in 1999, partners Jan and Ang have been a constant reminder of the original 77" spirit of punk rock. Throughout all the trends, throughout all the scenes and especially throughout the "down" times of punk rock, The Rotten have stayed true to both their sound and their attitude, never changing for anyone. It may sound cliche, but it's a whole different matter in reality. Most bands change, but with The Rotten, how can you change when the music is who you are? Improving on their music, however, is an entirely different matter. The band has managed to avoid the "throw back" label, bringing in modern street punk elements and ever evolving into their own brand of gritty, gruff, 77-style punk rock. Songs about beer are complimented by songs about smashin' the state. Songs about love are complimented by songs about the on going attack on real street culture in our cities. The combination is very refreshing, as The Rotten tackle important issues while maintaining that some what "punk as fuck, self-destructive" attitude that so many love. What is important here is that the band prove that you can have a little chaos, but at the end of the day, the content of the music is still important and life is about more than a "fuck you" to authority and a 6 pack.
