What a night … with lots of goosebump moments and a great support from William Fowler Collins. Thank u so much!

My soul left my body and went on a trip throughout a life it never knew. I have been to plenty of concerts, nothing left me with such a chemically pure joy. Everything was washed away by a torrent of strings and an angelic voice, and I could barely scrape myself together at the end. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the chance to re-live this, but I’m immensely thankful to Emma to have experienced this feeling at least this once.

The room was sauna hot but Emma Ruth Rundle was mesmerizing despite the heat. It was just her and a guitar and piano. Quiet music but just beautiful. Fantastic show. The opening act William Fowler Collins' set was about 35 minutes and was one song and, as far as I could tell, consisted of a single note. It was pleasant for about the first two minutes. But Emma was gold

About Emma Ruth Rundle

Rundle has always been a multifaceted musician, equally capable of dreamy abstraction (as heard on her debut album Electric Guitar: One), maximalist textural explorations (see her work in Marriages, Red Sparowes, Nocturnes or collaborations with Chelsea Wolfe and Thou), and the classic acoustic guitar singer-songwriter tradition (exemplified by Some Heavy Ocean). But on her last album Engine of Hell, Rundle focuses on an instrument that she left behind in her early twenties when she began playing in bands: the piano. In combination with her voice, the piano playing creates a kind of intimacy, as if we’re sitting beside Rundle on the bench, or perhaps even playing the songs ourselves.
